HISTORY OF THE FIRST TEE OF KNOXVILLE

The Knox Area Junior Golf Association (KAJGA) is a Tennessee 501 © (3) corporation organized in 1983, which became The First Tee of Knoxville in 1999. The mission of the association is quite simple-“To teach life’s lessons through a family-oriented golf program, to protect and preserve golf’s rich tradition and heritage, to secure golf’s future for tomorrow’s golfers.” Currently the (KAJGA) operates two (2) 9-hole First Tee facilities, in West and Northeast Knoxville. Our facilities are open to Daily Fee and Membership play. Our primary target for programs consists for juniors ages 17 and younger. We encourage parent/grandparent participation with their child/grandchild when playing the courses. The association employs a Director of golf (PGA professional), PGA Professional, GCSAA Superintendent, and numerous part-time seasonal employees that share responsibilities at both of our facilities. Currently our association has over 1800 juniors actively participating in our programs that includes year-round clinics, golf schools, team, stroke-play, family and special community events.

FACILITY ACCESS AND HOW OUR PROGRAM WORKS

Daily Fee and Membership Play: Please call for tee time. If you visit our facilities without a tee time, we will assist you on the course at the first available time. If you join the Knox Area Junior Golf Association, you will receive an individual membership card. When arriving at the facility we ask for you to check in at least 10-minutes prior to your tee time and present your membership card for verification Our clubhouses are open 7 days a week and have seasonal hours (see schedule below) Please review program schedules/calendars for times the courses will be closed for scheduled events. In most situations, the course will only be closed within a small time frame, i. e. 2 hours.
